Friday Favorites: Bill Cunningham
I watched this fantastic documentary last night about Bill Cunningham, a fashion photographer for the New York Times who is just a wonderful person. Yes, he shoots all the big fashion shows in Paris and New York, but his real passion is shooting people wearing those fashions on the streets of New York.
This guy wakes up and rides his bicycle around the city every day looking for beauty.
He refuses to go out saying “this and that is in” and then shooting people wearing what he has said is in style. Instead, he shoots what he sees on the street and then looks for what the trends seem to be.
He isn’t a respecter of persons. He does not care if a person is a celebrity or not. He just cares about beautiful clothes and creative expression. And he always seems to have a smile on his face.
When I’m next in New York I hope I get photographed by him! Thank you thank you thank you to my dear Aunt Kate for telling me that I needed to watch this documentary!
